There are quite a few traps I see when it comes the vision of a leader.

Some of them are:

  • No actual strategy to realize that vision
  • An elaborate strategy to realize that vision without an actual roadmap, broken down into smaller, clearly defined and achievable milestones (just as dangerous as the first)
  • Making your vision known to the world and dusting off your hands thereafter, expecting others to do the heavy lifting because hey, you’re the boss!
  • Thinking too much, doing very little
  • Not willing to take the kind of ownership a vision demands

When talking about #ownership and #accountability, we cannot underestimate the importance of small wins, big learnings, small tweaks and big leaps.
